Veteran's Day - Space Force - Logo Design
Veterans Day is the day that we honor all the men and women that have served in the armed forces of our military. These men and women do a great many things for our nations while sacrificing much.
Veterans day began as Armistice Day. Armistice Day was when a ceasefire was signed before the end of World War I. It was held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. This day was not the end of the war, but it was the day the fighting stopped.
In 1938 Armistice Day was turned into a legal holiday. At first this holiday was to celebrate only the veterans of World War I, but in 1954 they decided to make it a holiday to honor All Veterans. There are Six groups that make up our Armed Forces.
The Coastguard, The Navy, The Army, The Air Force, The Marines, The Space Force
Today we are going to look at the Space Force.
The Space Force is our newest addition to the United States Armed Forces in 73 years. Formerly, many of its functions were organized under the Air Force, known as the Air Force Space Command. On December 20, 2019, the National Defense Authorization Act was signed, establishing the United States Space Force as a distinct and separate branch of our military.
As much in the way the other branches protect our lands, waters and skies, the Space Force protects our interests in space. These people employed by the Space Force are known as the “Guardians”. They work across the globe, as well as in space, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to design, acquire, test, operate and defend critical space systems that our nation and the world rely on.
Space capabilities are critical. They benefit military operations and they keep us better informed and connected. The same holds true for daily life. Satellites are needed for everyday functions, such as monitoring weather patterns, television broadcasts, mobile phones and computers, as well as timing and navigation for GPS systems, financial networks and critical infrastructure. They even monitor all the “space junk” floating around, to make sure it does not affect or damage our many satellites and space stations.
The Space Force Guardians motto is, to stand at the ready, every day…Sempra Super, “Always Above”.
